Why Network...Is there any value in it

Don Cooper says you can become a powerful net worker if you consistently give without the expectation of something in return; you will receive the admiration, respect, and trust of the people around you. As a result, you can create a loyal team of unpaid advisors, consultants, and salespeople who will be more valuable to you than anyone you could possibly pay. Jorge Ramirez of Stanford University says: In general, people like to help others and most would be willing to put you on the right track. Additionally, people like to talk about what they do, so you can also gather additional knowledge along the way. Finally, building your corporate network allows others to see you as a point of contact for your group. When people begin to rely on you for information, it builds your reputation and influence. Increased visibility and a good reputation are two of the key ingredients to building a successful career. So, use the resources available and build your network! Darrell Hayes of Claremont McKenna College states: Networking is a valuable tool for any professional, especially an eager intern. Stephanie Epps of Stanford University states: I think its important to network inside your company but make sure it does not interfere with your assigned tasks and responsibilities. Also, try to make as many good impressions on people as possible to have others speak on your behalf when its time to decide whether or not you should get the offer.
