Culture Clash

“How do I best make sure not to cross the unprofessional line when working in a company with a very laid back culture, while also trying to fit in with my colleagues?” asks Ashley Hutchison, Georgia Tech

Remember that you are still interviewing. No matter how laid back the culture is, you must still be respectful of others time, personal space and need for privacy. Avoid talking in detail about your personal life. Avoid topics that pertain to politics and religion. Use your eyes and ears to observe how others carry themselves. Watch those that are considered rising stars and imitate their successful work habits and style. Your ten-week goal is to be invited back, don’t try and get too chummy with coworkers. Be friendly and professional at all times. Professional does not mean stuffy.
