SchrautLynette Robinson (UC Berkeley) advises you to learn any applicable software before your internship so you can impress your supervisor and finish training quicker than others. This is a good way to stand out and may also get you dibs on those projects commonly allocated to interns. Likewise, contact the person who offered you the internship and express your eagerness to begin learning things that will be useful to your internship before you start – and be sure to follow through on these recommendations so you don't look bad. Ali Habib (Stanford University) recommends that you stay in contact with your network built during recruiting, reach out to other members of the current intern class and complete all necessary paperwork prior to your start date.
